The original versus the tribute

The new Coldplay album, Viva La Vida or Death & All His Friends, has just been released. The band has also perfomed live concerts to promote their new album in quite a number of places; i.e.  Live at the MTV Movie Awards 2008 or yesterday’s concert at the BBC. So far, I have not been able to tell if I really like their latest musical offering, albeit it has already topped the UK chart. Many of the songs in this fourth album have not wowed me like their early albums did: Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head, only the Viva La Vida song, as shown in the clip, which I find quite impressive. The song renders me a feeling of hope despite its lyrics relating to something else. It has the effect of revitalising optimism and positive things in life. That was how I felt when I first heard the song.
